Suppose some girl blogger at a public meeting naively asks a high-ranking person whether the state can support bloggers. (You finance participants in shared-equity construction, tourists... Why not fund bloggers? How are they worse than tourists or participants in shared-equity construction? Who said that financing bloggers will not serve the development of the economy? Moreover, now the creation of a digital environment is one of the national goals...). A high-ranking person sincerely replies that bloggers have always lived off advertising.
You have to decipher such a statement this way.
The blogger is achieving popularity (to be able to live off advertising). How to distinguish a popular blogger from an unpopular one? It's a very simple. On almost all Internet platforms, on all sites there are counters. Why not look at the readings of these Internet meters, and draw conclusions about popularity?
In fact, everything is more complicated. If an Internet user placed his book on an Internet platform for selling electronic and paper books, then, most likely, he, for starters, will record costs.
It's like you buy a bottle of water or a newspaper or a book at the airport while waiting for your departure ... And the author, waiting the beginning for the sale of his book, runs the risk of spending money ...
Then you will look at the sales counter [meter]. The readings on it increase very slowly. You ask yourself why? You do not even suspect (you do not think) the counter is spoiled.
Just sales readings are slowly growing. Most likely, there are difficulties with advertising.
The user even performs an experiment. He presents himself as a potential buyer and tries to find his own book on the Internet platform. Strange, but through the search the book is not found. More than strange - isn't the Internet platform interested in selling books?
The author of the book notes that the metropolitan radio stations fulfill transformation and usage of his ideas. Maybe his product is used by someone else (except for radio stations)? He listens to these two radio stations. To scan the entire Internet space, the entire media space - it is a separate specialty, a separate independent occupation.
Maybe it's not about counters, not advertising, not demand, but about crypto algorithms (mysterious algorithms) of using an intelligent product?
The author of the book comes to a logical idea. Why would he wait for years for money that will never be credited to his account from the Internet platform? Isn't it easier to send the own content to readers directly through free publishing services? There are drawbacks to this scheme. But there are no (especially) unpleasant intermediaries in it.
The author has a hard time closing accounts on Internet platforms for selling books (these platforms are displeased with closing accounts - although it's strange ... why would they need books that do not generate income?).
The author also gains experience of communicating with foreign booksellers. Many are accustomed to internal shortcomings. But everything foreign beckons with hope. However, the scheme is the same. A content is transmitted. Then, a lot of strange phenomena, a lot of unnecessary headache mixed with copious correspondence, and zero money.
If foreign booksellers are such experienced and skillful people as they are positioning themselves, then why should they not draw up, issue a forecast for the sales of the book, and give the author a (irrevocable) advance payment under this forecast? The thought is logical. Why not make such an offer? After a corresponding proposal, relations with foreign figures begin to get upset ... Do you not suspect them that they like to receive content and be in continuous correspondence with the author, but do not like to pay the author money? ...
We, now, are moving on to free publishing services. By definition, there are no topics of a sales and of a cash. But you can notice in some cases a strange phenomenon - the counter of the number of readers reaches a certain value, a certain threshold, and then bounces back. And so - during several years. But there is another counter. He does not count the readers, but the number of readings of certain works. It works, it does not work, it works intermittently.
Yes, bloggers with such counters can live off advertising ... Where are 'our' Internet millionaires? For some reason, they are all connected with foreign video hosting sites. Thank you for your wise thoughts (about the fact that bloggers live off advertising). These thoughts are either a manifestation of ignorance of the real situation (that is, it is a chimera), or these statements simply misleading.
But besides counters, the author has other strange problems. Let's say that periodic blocking of access to content is a technical problem.
But you decided, for example, to create another account on the platform and place a separate work under a separate login (name, title). This is not prohibited by the rules. For example, some users post prose works separately and their poems separately. We are not discussing here the expediency and motivation of the separate placement of content. There is simply such a right, and people use this right.
However, the platform does not allow you to create a separate account. You enter into a long correspondence, you prove, you give examples, you insist on your rights ... It all ends with unclear references of anonymous correspondents to certain circumstances ... What should the author do? To retrain from an author of literary works into an author of petitions? ...
A summation? Crypto algorithms for using content, problems with counters, illegal restrictions on user rights, blocking access, numerous failures in accessing content, maneuvers with the speed of Internet access and other tricks ...
A very comfortable conditions...
