How would it be in Russian? And in a Russial style? A linguistic note.
I suggested a long time ago that two different words be used in English to denote the concepts of 'русский' и 'российский'.
(for example:
DCCCLXVI. The Sketch how Vanya Zhukov translated the word "Russian" from Russian into English and improved the language of Shakespeare. - May 31, 2019.
MMXXX. How to play by four hands with Seryozha? A linguistic note. - February 23, 2021.)
I myself constantly do translations from Russian into English. Without the use of two different words (in English), some parts of the text would be obscure (or would be complete nonsense).
Yesterday, Yandex (which I used for reading the news), as far as I understood, ceased to carry out the news aggregation function.
I turned to existing aggregators.
Most of the aggregators I met were English-language.
I understood some of the texts, some I translated in machine translation mode.
Machine translation tends to translate "Russian" as 'русский'. A bit naive... (And for some situations, it's just not right).
But there are no two words in English (except for my version: 'русский'-"russian", 'российский' - 'russial').
I decided to look at the problem more broadly.
I took a couple of concepts: 'русский', 'российский' and translated them using an online translator into English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
Here is the result:
russian, russian (en)
russe, russe (fr)
russisch, russisch (de)
ruso, ruso (es)
Russo, Russo (it).
I am more familiar with English. I don't use French, German, Spanish and Italian in my practice right now.
Nevertheless, I dare to offer options for a pair of concepts 'русский', 'российский' - options for French, German, Spanish and Italian:
[russian, russial (en)]
russe, russle (fr)
russisch, russilsch (de)
ruso, ruslo (es)
Russo, Russlo (it).
As for my proposal for the English language ('российский' 'russial'), it seems to me quite convenient.
I do not insist on my specific versions - for French, German, Spanish and Italian.
Maybe other options would be more convenient?
It is important that the word 'российский' get its lexical equivalents in European languages - this task seems important to me.
If my options turn out to be acceptable and convenient, I will only be happy.
