Whales and Robinson Crusoe. The fairy tale about the young Belarusian artist Olesya.
The young Belarusian artist Olesya loved to read fairy tales since childhood. She especially liked the tales by Hans Christian Andersen.
However, after August 9, 2020, she had to take a break from creativity and reading fairy tales. Olesya went to peaceful demonstrations and was imprisoned for 10 days.
In the detention center, she painted mysterious sad women and girls. They were with green hair.
At first, Olesya's friends thought that these were characters of Belarusian folklore or images of the heroine of Aleksandr Kuprin's story 'Olesya'.
The artist Olesya explained that she had only a green pencil in the detention center. And girls and women do not live in the depths of forests and swamps, but in Minsk. They are interested in issues of European development, culture and civil rights.
After leaving the jail, Olesya continued to read Andersen's fairy tales.
She decided to draw an illustration for these fairy tales.
Olesya took a sheet of paper, a brush and watercolors.
Isle. On the island - Robinson Crusoe. He merrily waves a sailor's shirt. The shirt is tied to a long branch.
The artist depicted the shirt in a white and red colors.
Around the island merry killer whales and beluga whales swim. They are waving their tails at Robinson Crusoe.
The artist attached a sheet of paper with a drawing to the glass of her window.
An optimistic picture. Andersen's positive influence! High hopes for a happy end!
